National Building Code: 2025

 Separate from the NECB, the NBC sets technical requirements for the design and construction of new buildings (as well as alterations, change of use, and demolition) that are equal to or less than 3 stories or 600m2.   
 
 The 2025 edition of the NBC includes the following energy efficiency and resilience updates: 
 - Introduction of energy efficiency requirements for the alteration of existing buildings,
 - Introduction of a points-based system to allow builders to choose the most cost-effective efficiency investments for their design 
 - Provision of  an optional prescriptive packages for demonstrating compliance with energy performance tiers 1 to 5
