The Clean Electricity Regulations outline a set of rules for transitioning Canada's electricity grid to net zero by 2050 and will come into force in 2035. They are to set technology-neutral emissions performance standards and include flexibilities so that provinces and utilities can maintain reliable and affordable electricity. The Clean Electricity Regulations require that fossil-fuel fired units operate at net-zero emissions in 2050.
