Customs duty exemptions on import of critical minerals

In its national budget for financial year (FY) 2024-2025, India reduced the basic customs duty on the import of graphite, silicon quartz and silicon dioxide and fully exempted the basic customs duty on the import of 26 critical minerals listed below: 

• Antimony
• Beryllium
• Bismuth
• Cobalt
• Copper 
• Gallium
• Germanium
• Hafnium
• Indium
• Lithium
• Molybdenum
• Niobium
• Nickel
• Potash
• REE
• Rhenium
• Strontium
• Tantalum
• Tellurium
• Tin
• Tungsten 
• Vanadium
• Zirconium
• Selenium
• Cadmium
• Silicon, other than Quartz and Silicon Dioxide.
