Last updated: 13 April 2026

The Boilers Act 2025 regulates the design, manufacture, and use of boilers in India to prevent steam-boiler explosions and ensure safety. It defines a boiler as a pressure vessel with a capacity of at least 25 litres that generates steam under specified pressure and temperature.
The Act mandates registration, periodic inspection, and the use of certified welders for all repairs and construction. Owners must report accidents within twenty-four hours and comply with safety regulations. This law replaces the 1923 Act, establishing a uniform national framework for registration and technical standards.
