Electricity Transmission Network Development Plan 2021-2026

Spain’s Electricity Transmission Network Development Plan 2021–2026 sets out EUR 6.96 billion of investment in transmission infrastructure to support renewable integration and system reliability. In 2025, the government proposed an updated electricity planning framework aligned with the PNIEC, increasing investment to EUR 13.59 billion by 2030 and supporting 27.7 GW of new transmission demand and 5.3 GW in distribution networks. The update prioritises electrification, industrial demand, and grid expansion to accommodate higher shares of renewable generation.
