Grid Expansion Acceleration Package

The government approved a package of measures to accelerate the expansion of the high-voltage power grid, aiming to support clean energy, industrial sustainability, and housing electrification. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and TenneT, the Dutch TSO, will fast-track 25 critical projects by simplifying permitting processes, reallocating responsibilities to provincial or national authorities, and adjusting legislation to remove procedural delays. The government allocated EUR 197 million for municipalities affected by major infrastructure and EUR 22.5 million to support permitting capacity, while TenneT will streamline its internal operations to cut project lead times by over a year.
