Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Deployment Programme

Singapore announced the deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS) on 22 October 2020, including its first utility-scale installation at a substation through a partnership between the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and SP Group. The programme involves government-supported investment in grid-scale battery infrastructure to enhance grid stability, manage peak demand, and facilitate the integration of solar energy. This represents a targeted infrastructure deployment rather than a broad subsidy scheme.
