Nationally Determined Contribution of Turkmenistan under the Paris Agreement

Turkmenistan’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution sets a target to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by 20% by 2030 compared to 2010 levels under a business-as-usual scenario. The mitigation strategy focuses on reducing methane emissions from the oil and gas sector, improving energy efficiency in electricity generation and industry, and expanding renewable energy deployment. Priority sectors include energy, transport, agriculture, industry and waste management. The NDC also includes adaptation priorities such as water management, agriculture resilience and ecosystem protection.
