EU-Greenland Memorandum of Understanding on a strategic partnership on sustainable raw material value chains
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EU and Greenland seeks to establish a strategic partnership to promote closer integration of sustainable value chains for metals and minerals. It aims to support the development of Greenland’s mineral resource sector as a potential future supplier of critical raw materials to the EU. The MoU focuses on cooperation in 5 main areas:
- Economic and industrial integration of mineral value chains,
- Leveraging high international ESG standards,
- Deployment of infrastructure for minerals project development,
- Capacity building and skills development,
- Research and innovation for prospecting, exploration, extraction, processing and refining.
