SGM-2012/2 on Environmentally Friendly Design of Energy-Related Products

This regulation applies to the promotion of the development of energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly energy products and appliances. It sets rules on product-specific guidance for ecodesign of energy-related products and appliances, as well as on ensuring trade of energy-related products within the EU.

• From February 2012 onwards, motors are therefore required to comply with IE2 or above performance requirements. 
• From 1/1/2015,  the efficiency of motors with a nominal output power between 7.5 kW and 375 kW shall not be lower than the IE3 efficiency level 
• From 1/1/2017, the efficiency of motors with a nominal output power between 0.75 kW and 375 kW shall not be lower than the IE3 efficiency level
