Ban on the export of unrefined metals in Tanzania

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals banned the export of mineral concentrates and ores from metallic minerals such as copper. The measure is aligned with the country’s policy to advance local mineral beneficiation activities. However, it was particularly triggered by a dispute on taxes between mining companies and the government. Finally in 2020 the policy was removed after reaching an agreement with the mining companies.
