Bavaria Hydrogen Roadmap
Bavaria has set the goal of being climate-neutral by 2040. With the Hydrogen Roadmap, the Free State highlight the perspectives and actions to ramp-up the hydrogen economy. Demand is expected to come mainly from mobility, petrochemical, power and heat generation (central and in the industrial sector). Capacity for electrolytic hydrogen production is limited due to the low renewable resources potential, so Bavaria will have to rely on imports in the long term. Anyway, by 2030 at least 1 GW of electrolysis must be installed in Bavaria (300 MW by 2025) to meet the assumed additional hydrogen demand. In addition, connection to the European Hydrogen Backbone must be accelerated.
