Guarantee of origin broadened to hydrogen and renewable gases

The GoO scheme was expanded as part of the Renewable Energy Expansion Act (sections 81 and 83), which was approved in July 2021. The Act regulates support schemes and GoO. The process is overseen by E-Control Austria (E-Control Austria für die Regulierung der Elektrizitäts- und Erdgaswirtschaft), the national energy regulator. E-Control is responsible for issuing, managing, and verifying guarantees of origin for gas and hydrogen under the EAG. Only guarantees issued through E-Control’s system, in line with Section 81 EAG, are valid for disclosure and certification purposes
