Canada's Energy Efficiency Act authorises the introduction of minimum energy efficiency standards to phase out less efficient energy-using equipment and household appliances from the Canadian marketplace.
The Act was amended in 2011 for more stringent standards over:

  • Electric motors
  • Residential gas boilers
  • Residential oil boilers
  • Dry-type transformers
  • Large air-conditioners and heat pumps
  • Commercial self-contained refrigeration
  • General service incandescent reflector lamps
