SOR/2014-207 Regulations Amending the Passenger Automobile and Light Truck Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulations

The purpose of the Passenger Automobile and Light Truck Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulations is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from passenger automobiles and light trucks by establishing emission standards and test procedures that are aligned with the federal requirements of the United States. 

The regulations amends the Passenger Automobile and Light Truck Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulations with the following emission targets:

  • Passenger automobiles models from 2017 to 2025: CO2e emission target values will be reduced on average by 5% annually initially using the 2016 model year as the reference.
  • Light trucks: CO2 emission targets values will be reduced by 3.5% per year for models from 2017 to 2021, then by 5% per year for models from 2022 to 2025.
