Regulation (EC) No 443/2009 on emission performance standards for new passenger cars

The regulation establishes CO2 emissions performance requirements for new passenger cars and sets the average CO2 emissions limit at 130 gCO2/km. 
It also sets a new car fleet target of 95 gCO2/km from 2020 onwards. 

The following target percentages of new passenger cars registered by each manufacturer have also been set: 

  • 65 % in 2012
  • 75 % in 2013
  • 80 % in 2014
  • 100 % from 2015 onwards.
