Grant for renewable hydrogen

EUR 122 million (USD 132 million) awarded as a direct grant to replace 30% of natural gas-based ammonia production with renewable ammonia. Project comprises a 171 MW electrolyser starting operations in 2026. However, the grant was waived in September 2024 for increased project cost. As the new regulations were prepared by the EU, i. e. for the hourly green energy accounting, the sum of the project investment increased more than twice and the project became economically unattractive.
