Tenders for hydrogen-ready gas power plants

Tenders for 12.5 GW of hydrogen-ready gas power plants will be launched in 2024/2025. The funds for the tender will come from the Climate Transition Fund, which has a total budget of EUR 19.9 billion (USD 21.6 billion) for hydrogen and industrial decarbonisation, of which EUR 1.3 billion (USD 1.4 billion) is part of the 2024 budget. The first phase includes 5 GW of new plants and 2 GW of refurbishments. The subsidy will be as OPEX for up to 800 hours a year. Plants must switch to low-emissions hydrogen from the 8th year of operation
