Government to support hydrogen in transport sector
In order to reduce emissions in the trucking sector, the Australian government will finance clean hydrogen-powered trucks, developing the hydrogen infrastructure in North Queensland. The government is committing AUD 15.5 million, co-financed with the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (AUD 12.5 million to construct a 1 MW electrolyser and to buy 5 new trucks, supplied by Hyzon Motors) and with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, ARENA (AUD 3.02, to be received once the refuelling facility is commissioned and five trucks are delivered, in December 2022)
In March 2025, project is being reviewed for new offtake customers with the withdrawal of Hyzon Motors from the Australia market
