2019 Ontario Energy Board's Innovation Sandbox

The 2019 Ontario Energy Board’s (OEB) Innovation Sandbox supports pilot projects testing new services and business models in Ontario’s electricity and natural gas industries. It provides information to innovators with questions about the OEB’s regulatory framework and how it applies to their ideas. It also offers project-specific support for those proceeding with a specific project. In 2023 this OEB’s Innovation Sandbox was updated with the power to provide temporary regulatory relief. It launched a call for pilot projects funded with USD 1 million from compliance penalties.
