Renewable Energy Communities

Energy communities allow collective use and distribution of locally generated renewable energy among participants in a community to increase efficiency and sustainability. Following the Clean Energy Package for all Europeans (2019), the necessary energy policy framework was implemented in Austria in 2021 through the Renewable Energy Expansion Act (EAG) and an amendment to the Electricity Industry and Organization Act (ElWOG).
