Modernisation Fund

The Modernisation Fund supports investments in generation and use of electricity from renewable sources, increase of energy efficiency, energy storage, modernisation of energy networks, including district heating, pipelines and grids, and just transition in carbon-dependent regions.  The Ministry of the Environment and the Environmental Fund of the Slovak Republic started the support from Modernisation Fund resources in 2022 through state aid schemes focused on supporting the investments in energy (heating and cooling) sector, decarbonisation of industry, using the renewable energy sources, modernisation of energy networks, grids for electricity transmission, infrastructure for zero-emission mobility and sector of buildings.
Several calls were launched in 2022, 2024 and 2025. The amount of Modernisation Fund resources allocated to the Slovak Republic until 2030 is 4.3 - 3.5 billion EUR at a carbon price of 80 - 65 €/t.
