The Commonwealth Government has been negotiating bilateral Renewable Energy Transformation Agreements (RETAs) with states and territories since late 2023. RETAs build on collaboration through the National Energy Transformation Partnership and support common goals in the energy transition. Through RETAs, governments commit to working together to deliver new renewable generation and storage to support achieving 82% renewable electricity nationally by 2030, including through agreed minimum allocations of capacity for states as part of the Capacity Investment Scheme.
