The investment aims to support the local production and use of green hydrogen in industry, SMEs and local transport, thus creating new hydrogen valleys (hydrogen districts), especially in Southern Italy, where hydrogen is produced from local renewable sources and used locally. The aim of the measure is to repurpose abandoned industrial areas into experimental units for the production of hydrogen in local RES plants, located in the same industrial complex or in neighboring areas. Through the implementation of the planned interventions, the aim is to incentivize the production of electrolytic hydrogen from renewable energy sources (pursuant to Directive (EU) 2018/2001) or from grid electricity, promote the reuse of unused industrial areas and foster the economic recovery of local economies. The total amount of the Investment is equal to 500 million euros.
