Ontario feed-in tariff
The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) developed the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) Program to promote renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and biogas in Ontario. The microFIT Program, a subset of FIT, supports small-scale projects (10 kW or less). Participants, including individuals and corporations, enter contracts to supply electricity to the grid and receive payment per kWh generated. The FIT Program stopped accepting applications in 2016. Participants face various income tax implications, including deductions for expenses and capital cost allowances (CCA) for renewable energy properties.
