Pilot Project Guidelines for utilizing Green Hydrogen in Steel Sector

India launched a pilot scheme to use green hydrogen in the steel sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. It focuses on replacing fossil fuels in DRI, blast furnaces, and other processes. Plants will start by blending small amounts of green hydrogen and increase gradually. New steel plants must be ready for green hydrogen use. The scheme has a budget of Rs. 455 crores until 2029-30 to build the necessary infrastructure.
