These subsidies encouraged households and companies to switch from fossil fuels to alternative fuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transport. The scheme covered electric passenger cars, gas-powered trucks, electric vans, and the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to run on ethanol or gas. The scheme expired in 2024.
