Guidelines on hydrogen development 2024-2050
The Ministry of Energy presented guidelines for the development of hydrogen from 2024 to 2050 in Lithuania. It focuses on the use of low-carbon hydrogen for the decarbonisation of the industry and transport sectors, with the possibility of using it to generate electricity, taking advantage of excess electricity from renewable sources. The government plans to turn Lithuania into the Baltic regional leader in the production and export of hydrogen, foreseeing the need of establishing a legal framework around it. In April 2024, EUR 24 million were allocated for investment support that is expected to create around 30 MW of hydrogen production capacity.
