Directive 2018/2001 on the promotion of energy from renewable sources as amended by Directive 2023/2413

The Renewable Directive establishes a common scheme to promote renewable energy across different sectors and sets a binding overall target of 42.5% of renewables in total energy consumption in the EU by 2030, with an additional indicative increase of 2.5% to reach the 45% target. The directive also requires 42% of the hydrogen consumed in industry to be replaced by renewable hydrogen and 1% of RFNBOs in the transport sector by 2030. 
The transposition must be submitted by member states by July 1, 2025.
