Hydrogen Promotion Act - WFÖG
The Hydrogen Promotion Act (WFöG) aims to promote the production of renewable hydrogen in Austria to achieve climate neutrality by 2040. USD 891 million (EUR 820 million) have been dedicated for funding of renewable hydrogen production projects through the competitive auction process of the European Hydrogen Bank, with a maximum funding period of 10 years. It targets a production capacity of 300 MW.
USD 435 million (EUR 400 million) have been allocated for the EHB auction in 2024. Four Austrian electrolyser projects have received positive funding decision in the 2024 auction, with a total funding amount of around USD 299 million (EUR 275 Million), resulting in 171 MW of additonal planned electrolyser capacity.
