National Inventory Management System

In its Fourth Biennial Update Report under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, India announced that it was in the process of developing a National Inventory Management System (“NIMS”) to support the preparation and management of a comprehensive national greenhouse gas database. All relevant ministries and governmental departments would be part of the institutional structure of NIMS and would be responsible for providing sector-specific greenhouse gas emissions data across sectors, including the energy sector, for GHGs, including methane.
