Restrictive measures against Russia
The European Union announced a package of economic sanctions and restrictions on energy-related equipment and technology since 2014. The scope of sanctions were gradually expanded with the latest package of sanctions enacted on 24 June. Energy sector related sanctions include:
- Dual-use goods and technology export restrictions in relation to production and supply of electronic components. (23 Feb 2024)
- Import ban on raw materials for steel production, processed aluminium products and other metal goods (18 December 2023)
- Export restrictions on dual use/ advanced technological and industrial goods including DC motors, machine tools processed steel, lasers and batteries (18 December 2023)
- Oil price cap (18 December 2023)
- Import ban on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) (18 December 2023)
- Extension of ban on the export of luxury cars above 1900cm3 and all electric and hybrid vehicles (23 June 2023)
- End of possibility to import Russian oil by pipeline for Germany and Poland (23 June 2023)
- Export restrictions on coal (5 October 2022) and import ban on all forms of Russian coal ( 8 Apr 2022)
- Import ban on Russian finished and semi-finished steel products, machinery and appliances (5 October 2022)
- Implementation of G7 oil price cap 5 October 2022)
- Implementation of oil import restrictions including an embargo on the imports of crude oil and refined oil products from Russia (3 June 2022)
- Prohibition of future investments in, and exports to, LNG projects under construction in Russia. (24 June 2024)
- Prohibition of the use of EU ports for the transhipment of Russian LNG after a 9 month transition period . (24 June 2024)
- Prohibition of Russian LNG imports into specific terminals not connected to the EU gas pipeline network. (24 June 2024)
- Port and service provision ban for a specific list of vessels. (24 June 2024)
- Export ban on additional industrial products, chemical, plastics, vehicle parts, machinery goods and manganese (24 June 2024)
