Australia New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (2025-2029)

The Australian New Vehicle Efficiency Standard the Australian market, which came into effect on 1 January 2025, encourages supply of more efficient light vehicles and will drive down emissions from new light vehicles. Headline limits for fuel efficiency are currently set until 2029. The Australian Government will commence a review on the operation of the NVES in 2026. The review process will offer the opportunity to assess policy effectiveness and refine the regulatory systems and mechanisms.
