Algeria Solar Intiative

In 2021, Algeria launched the "1000 MW Solar" Initiative as part of its targets to reach 15 GW of renewables capacity by 2035. The call of tenders for the initiative was announced on 23 December 2021. The implementation of the project is expected to start early in 2024 with a total cost of 171.5 billion Dinars. The project will cover 11 states mostly in the south.

A 1 GW scheme was launched in late 2021 and a 2 GW tender initiated in February 2023.
