2022 increase in Basic Customs Duty on Solar PV cell and module imports

India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) announced in December 2021 an increase in the basic customs duty (BCD) on imported solar PV cells and modules, effective April 1, 2022. The BCD rose from a 14.5% rate in 2021 to 40% on solar PV modules and 25% on solar PV cells in 2022. The duty was renewed in Budget 2023, until at least March 31, 2024.
