Green Electricity Tariff Programme

The Malaysian Government is implementing since 2021 a Green Electricity Tariff Programme enables electricity consumers to subscribe for the provision of electricity generated through renewable sources in exchange for a premium.

The premium and subscription period were reviewed in 2023 and the Programme was extended to 2024.

Green Electricity Tariff Programme consumers benefit from an exemption from Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) fees. 

An extension of the Programme was announced in 2025 by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA).
