Raw materials guarantee scheme

Last updated: 8 December 2023

In September 2022 the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced an ordinance on credit guarantee to secure the supply of raw materials. The aim of this regulation is to support companies’ access and imports of critical raw materials to Sweden and to contribute to the transition towards a sustainable economy. Under the ordinance, the Export Credit Board may offer a state credit guarantee as security for a credit that has been granted to a foreign debtor in connection with a long-term agreement for the supply of a raw material, provided that the activity is of economic interest to Sweden. This scheme offers a financing opportunity for foreign mining companies undertaking mine development or expansion.
