Hydrogen valleys in abandoned industrial areas

EUR 500 million for hubs. At the end of 2021, the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition (MiTE) has launched a bidding procedure aimed at funding projects to convert disused industrial areas into hubs for production and distribution of renewable hydrogen. The projects will be funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) budget and must be completed by 2025. There are two lines of fundingEUR 450 million for hubs in generation; EUR 50 million for flagship projects. The objective is to finalize at least 10 projects for hydrogen production in brownfield areas, with a total installed capacity (electrolyser size) ranging from 10 to 50 MW
