Families First Price Rise Response Program

In response to the global energy price crisis, the Portuguese government enacted a EUR 2.4 billion package of household-oriented support measures, of which EUR 612 million are aimed at cushioning rising energy prices by:

  • Freezing of urban travel pass prices for 2023.
  • reducing VAT on electricity by 7% (from 13% to 6%).
  • Extending the reduction of the excise tax on petrol (- EUR 0.3/ L).
