VAT reduction on solar panels, solar water heaters and heat pumps

The Belgian government enacted in 2022 a temporary VAT reduction to the delivery and installation of the following energy-efficient technologies:

• Photovoltaic solar panels
• Thermal solar panels
• Solar water heaters
• Heat pumps

Dwellings being less than 10 years old are eligible to the reduced VAT rate of 6% (down from the standard 21%). The reduced rate is applicable between April 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023, inclusive.
