Funding to promote green heating and phasing down the use of natural gas

Last updated: 25 April 2023

The Danish government has decided to allocate DKK 250 million in 2022 to promote green heating and phasing down the use of natural gas in Denmark, reducing reliance on Russian gas in the process. This includes:

  • Expanding the 'disconnection scheme', which covers the cost of disconnecting households from gas boilers in favour of heat pumps.
  • Energy saving activities, such as expanding the Boliganalysen scheme and SparEnergi.dk website to help municipalities present energy saving advice or clean heating conversion information.
  • Municipal action for the roll-out of district heating, such as support for planning, project approvals and cooperation with district heating companies, as well as the development of small-scale, joint heat supply projects.
