Canada Green Buildings Strategy
The Canada Green Buildings Strategy (CGBS) is part of the 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan. Released in July 2024, the Strategy sets out the Government’s vision and steps to address the twin challenges of affordability and climate change, towards more energy efficient, affordable and greener homes and buildings. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helping lower energy bills in the residential buildings, and promoting more efficiency in the commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings, are key areas of the strategy. Some initiatives which fall under the strategy include the Canada Greener Homes Affordability program, the National Approach to Home Labelling, and the modernization of tools such as the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
