The U.S. Department of Energy has allocated $24.9 million to six hydrogen R&D projects, primarily focused on gas turbine technology, with over $11 million in additional private investment. Raytheon received $4.5 million to test hydrogen-natural gas blends and $3 million to develop a low-NOx ammonia-fired turbine combustor. General Electric was awarded $5.9 million to test hydrogen blends up to 100% in turbine components and nearly $7 million for further turbine studies.
