Last updated: 30 January 2024

The government announced its plan to develop ammonia and hydrogen as feedstock for the thermal power generation to gradually phase out fossil fuels and introduce them in the fuel mix as early as 2030. A public-private council has been launched to lead research and the ammonia storage facility is expected to be established in 2022. Additionally, financial incentives will be provided to promote the use of both fuels, and the international supply chain will be stabilised.
