Net Zero Innovation Portfolio

The UK's Net Zero Innovation Portfolio provides funding for low carbon technologies and systems, to help enable the UK to end its contribution to climate change. Related 2024 calls included direct air capture, space-based solar, AI and small modular nuclear reactors. The portfolio has a budget envelope of approximately USD 1.3 billion. As part of its Net Zero Strategy the government increased funding of the net zero Innovation portfolio by £500 million in 2024 to support BEIS-led programmes on power, buildings and industry; DfT-led programmes across transport; and DEFRA led programmes on natural resources, waste and F-gases.
