Funding for projects that support job creation in energy communities

Following the White House "Initial report to the President on empowering workers through revitalizing energy communities", the U.S. DOE unveiled a USD 109.5 million financing scheme to support energy workers in fossil and power plant communities. 
The investment includes:

- USD 75 million funding opportunity to engineer carbon capture projects;

- USD 19 million in funding awards for critical mineral extraction from coal and associated waste stream;

- USD 15 million for geothermal energy research projects at West Virginia University and Sandia National Laboratories.
