Law No. 86 of 1956 concerning mining and quarrying

The law states that all mineral materials existing in mines in the Egyptian territories and the territorial waters are considered as state property. Furthermore, it stipulates the terms and obligations of all oil and gas operators carrying out activities within Egypt. It includes permitting requirements, royalties’ rates and the need to report production levels and related information.
