The EU Strategy for Energy system integration sets out 38 actions to create a more integrated energy system. The incentive is to increase efficiency of the energy system, which accounts for 75% of EU's greenhouse gas emissions to become climate neutral by 2050. The main pillars include a more circular energy system, greater direct electrification of end use sectors, and promote clean fuels including hydrogen and biofuels where electrification is difficult. Impacts include a network of one million electric vehicle charging points, expansion of solar and wind power, new classifications and certifications for renewable and low carbon fuels, and reformations to local energy sources.
