New episode of Everything Energy podcast delves into the huge potential of geothermal energy

A new episode of the IEA’s flagship podcast, Everything Energy, explores the vast potential of geothermal energy, which is becoming increasingly accessible worldwide thanks to next-generation technologies.

In the episode, which is now available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, host Dan Hewitt speaks with IEA senior analysts Heymi Bahar and Rebecca Schulz, co-authors of the IEA’s report, The Future of Geothermal Energy. They discuss how geothermal works, why it only meets about 1% of global electricity demand today, and how innovation is transforming the outlook for this versatile renewable energy source – and generating interest from the oil and gas industry.

The IEA launched a revamped version of the Everything Energy podcast earlier this month. The series offers valuable insights on issues at the centre of the global energy dialogue through conversations with experts who explain what the IEA’s latest data and analysis say about trends and prospects in the energy sector.
