Dr Birol wished the Prime Minister and his new government well as they put their policy agenda into action. In the meeting, they discussed opportunities for closer cooperation between the IEA and Hungary going forwards.

Dr Birol also met with Hungary's Minister of Economy and Energy István Kapitány to discuss the short- and medium-term prospects for energy markets. Their conversation also covered strategic energy priorities for Hungary and Europe, including nuclear power, wind and batteries.

In addition, Dr Birol had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Orbán in which they discussed recent developments in the Middle East and their implications for energy markets and security, as well as the role of international cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
